Searches for heavy long-lived charged particles are performed using a data sample of 19.8 fb$^{-1}$ from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of $\\sqrt{s}$ = 8 TeV collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. No excess is observed above the estimated background and limits are placed on the mass of long-lived particles in various supersymmetric models. Long-lived tau sleptons in models with gauge-mediated symmetry breaking are excluded up to masses between 440 and 385 GeV for $\\tan\\beta$ between 10 and 50, with a 290 GeV limit in the case where only direct tau slepton production is considered. In the context of simplified LeptoSUSY models, where sleptons are stable and have a mass of 300 GeV, squark and gluino masses are excluded up to a mass of 1500 and 1360 GeV, respectively. Directly produced charginos, in simplified models where they are nearly degenerate to the lightest neutralino, are excluded up to a mass of 620 GeV. $R$-hadrons, composites containing a gluino, bottom squark or top squark, are excluded up to a mass of 1270, 845 and 900 GeV, respectively, using the full detector; and up to a mass of 1260, 835 and 870 GeV using an approach disregarding information from the muon spectrometer.","hasPart":[{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.66462.v1/t1","@type":"Dataset","description":"Observed data, background estimate and expected signal in the slepton search for the lower of the two masses ($m$) in...","name":"Table 1"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.66462.v1/t2","@type":"Dataset","description":"Observed data, background estimate and expected signal in the slepton search for the lower of the two masses ($m$) in...","name":"Table 2"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.66462.v1/t3","@type":"Dataset","description":"Observed data, background estimate and expected signal in the slepton search for the one-candidate signal region (LeptoSUSY: $m_{\\tilde q}$ =...","name":"Table 3"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.66462.v1/t4","@type":"Dataset","description":"Reconstructed mass $m_\\beta$ in observed data, background estimate and expected signal ($\\tilde{\\chi}^{\\pm}_1$ masses of 400 and 600 GeV) in the...","name":"Table 4"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.66462.v1/t5","@type":"Dataset","description":"Reconstructed mass $m_\\beta$ in observed data, background estimate and expected signal ($\\tilde{\\chi}^{\\pm}_1$ masses of 400 and 600 GeV) in the...","name":"Table 5"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.66462.v1/t6","@type":"Dataset","description":"Reconstructed mass $m_\\beta$ in observed data, background estimate and expected signal ($\\tilde{\\chi}^{\\pm}_1$ masses of 400 and 600 GeV) in the...","name":"Table 6"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.66462.v1/t7","@type":"Dataset","description":"Data and background estimates for the reconstructed mass based on time-of-flight, $m_{\\beta}$, for combined candidates in the full-detector 500 GeV...","name":"Table 7"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.66462.v1/t8","@type":"Dataset","description":"Data and background estimates for the reconstructed mass based on specific energy loss, $m_{\\beta\\gamma}$, for combined candidates in the full-detector...","name":"Table 8"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.66462.v1/t9","@type":"Dataset","description":"Data and background estimates for the reconstructed mass based on time-of-flight, $m_{\\beta}$, for the MS-agnostic 500 GeV sbottom and $m_{\\beta\\gamma}$...","name":"Table 9"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.66462.v1/t10","@type":"Dataset","description":"Data and background estimates for the reconstructed mass based on specific energy loss, $m_{\\beta\\gamma}$, for the MS-agnostic 500 GeV stop...","name":"Table 10"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.66462.v1/t11","@type":"Dataset","description":"Cross-section upper limits as a function of the mass of the lightest stau for the GMSB models with $\\tan\\beta =...","name":"Table 11"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.66462.v1/t12","@type":"Dataset","description":"Cross-section upper limits as a function of the mass of the lightest stau for the GMSB models with $\\tan\\beta =...","name":"Table 12"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.66462.v1/t13","@type":"Dataset","description":"Cross-section upper limits as a function of the mass of the lightest stau for the GMSB models with $\\tan\\beta =...","name":"Table 13"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.66462.v1/t14","@type":"Dataset","description":"Cross-section upper limits as a function of the mass of the lightest stau for the GMSB models with $\\tan\\beta =...","name":"Table 14"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.66462.v1/t15","@type":"Dataset","description":"Cross-section upper limits as a function of the mass of the lightest stau for the GMSB models with $\\tan\\beta =...","name":"Table 15"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.66462.v1/t16","@type":"Dataset","description":"Observed 95% CL exclusion contour for directly produced sleptons in the plane $\\Delta=m(\\tilde{\\ell})-m(\\tilde{\\tau}_1)$ vs. $m(\\tilde{\\tau}_1)$.","name":"Table 16"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.66462.v1/t17","@type":"Dataset","description":"Expected 95% CL exclusion contour for directly produced sleptons in the plane $\\Delta=m(\\tilde{\\ell})-m(\\tilde{\\tau}_1)$ vs. $m(\\tilde{\\tau}_1)$.","name":"Table 17"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.66462.v1/t18","@type":"Dataset","description":"Cross-section upper limits as a function of the $\\tilde{\\tau}_1$ mass for direct $\\tilde{\\tau}_1$ production and three values of $\\tan\\beta$.
