This data presents the result of a search for charged Higgs bosons decaying via $H^{\\pm}\\to\\tau^{\\pm}\\nu_{\\tau}$ in 36 fb$^{-1}$ of $pp$ collision data recorded at $\\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV recorded with the ATLAS experiment. No evidence of a charged Higgs boson is found. For the mass range of $m_{H^{\\pm}}$ = 90-2000 GeV, upper limits at the 95% confidence level are set on the production cross-section of the charged Higgs boson times the branching fraction $\\mathrm{\\cal{B}}(H^{\\pm} \\to \\tau^{\\pm}\\nu_{\\tau})$ in a range of 4.2-0.0025 pb. In the mass range 90-160 GeV, assuming the Standard Model cross-section for $t\\bar{t}$ production, this corresponds to upper limits between 0.25% and 0.031% for the branching fraction $\\mathrm{\\cal{B}}(t\\to bH^{\\pm}) \\times \\mathrm{\\cal{B}}(H^{\\pm} \\to \\tau^{\\pm}\\nu_{\\tau})$.\n\nThe $\\tau$+jets channel fiducial region is defined as:\n- At least one hadronic tau decay ($\\tau_{\\rm had-vis}$)\n- Choose $\\tau_{\\rm had-vis}$ with highest $p_{\\rm T}$ satisfying Medium ID cut\n- $p_{\\rm T}$($\\tau_{\\rm had-vis}$) > 40 GeV, |$\\eta$($\\tau_{\\rm had-vis}$)| < 1.37 or 1.52 < |$\\eta$($\\tau_{\\rm had-vis}$)| < 2.3\n- No electrons or muons\n- At least three jets with $p_{\\rm T}$ > 25 GeV, of which at least one is $b$-tagged\n- $E_{\\rm T}^{\\rm miss}$ > 150 GeV\n- $m_{\\rm T}$($\\tau_{\\rm had-vis}$, $E_{\\rm T}^{\\rm miss}$) > 50 GeV\n\nThe $\\tau$+lepton channel fiducial region is defined as:\n- At least one hadronic tau decay ($\\tau_{\\rm had-vis}$)\n- Choose $\\tau_{\\rm had-vis}$ with highest $p_{\\rm T}$ satisfying Medium ID cut\n- $p_{\\rm T}$($\\tau_{\\rm had-vis}$) > 30 GeV, |$\\eta$($\\tau_{\\rm had-vis}$)| < 1.37 or 1.52 < |$\\eta$($\\tau_{\\rm had-vis}$)| < 2.3\n- Exactly one light lepton (electron or muon) satisfying Tight ID cut\n- $p_{\\rm T}$(e) > 30 GeV, |$\\eta$(e)| < 1.37 or 1.52 < |$\\eta$(e)| < 2.47\n- $p_{\\rm T}$($\\mu$) > 30 GeV, |$\\eta$($\\mu$)| < 2.5\n- At least one is $b$-tagged with $p_{\\rm T}$ > 25 GeV\n- $E_{\\rm T}^{\\rm miss}$ > 50 GeV","hasPart":[{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.83355.v1/t1","@type":"Dataset","description":"Observed and expected 95% CL exclusion limits on $\\sigma(pp\\to tbH^+)\\times \\mathrm{\\cal{B}}(H^+\\to\\tau\\nu)$ as a function of the charged Higgs boson mass...","name":"Table 1"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.83355.v1/t2","@type":"Dataset","description":"Observed and expected 95% CL exclusion limits on $\\mathrm{\\cal{B}}(t\\to bH^+)\\times\\mathrm{\\cal{B}}(H^+\\to\\tau\\nu)$ as a function of the charged Higgs boson mass in...","name":"Table 2"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.83355.v1/t3","@type":"Dataset","description":"Observed 95% CL exclusion contour in the tan$\\beta$ - $m_H$ plane shown in the context of the hMSSM, for the...","name":"Table 3"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.83355.v1/t4","@type":"Dataset","description":"Expected 95% CL exclusion contour in the tan$\\beta$ - $m_H$ plane shown in the context of the hMSSM, for the...","name":"Table 4"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.83355.v1/t5","@type":"Dataset","description":"Observed a95% CL exclusion contour in the tan$\\beta$ - $m_H$ plane shown in the context of the $m_{H}^{mod-}$ scenario, for...","name":"Table 5"},{"@id":"https://doi.org/10.17182/hepdata.83355.v1/t6","@type":"Dataset","description":"Expected 95% CL exclusion contour in the tan$\\beta$ - $m_H$ plane shown in the context of the $m_{H}^{mod-}$ scenario, for...","name":"Table 6"}],"identifier":[{"@type":"PropertyValue","propertyID":"HEPDataRecord","value":"https://www.hepdata.net/record/ins1683331?version=1"},{"@type":"PropertyValue","propertyID":"HEPDataRecordAlt","value":"https://www.hepdata.net/record/83355"}],"inLanguage":"en","name":"Search for charged Higgs bosons decaying via $H^{\\pm} \\to \\tau^{\\pm}\\nu_{\\tau}$ in the $\\tau$+jets and $\\tau$+lepton final states with 36 fb$^{-1}$ of $pp$ collision data recorded at $\\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV with the ATLAS experiment","provider":{"@type":"Organization","name":"HEPData"},"publisher":{"@type":"Organization","name":"HEPData"},"url":"https://www.hepdata.net/record/ins1683331?version=1","version":1}
