We report on a study of the charge-exchange reaction pp → nΔ ++ (1232) at the CERN intersecting storage rings (ISR) in the energy range √ s = 23 to 53 GeV. From our analysis of the energy dependence of the total cross-section, of the differential cross-section d σ /d t and of the decay angular distributions we find evidence that pion exchange is dominant up to √ s = 23 GeV and that ( ϱ +A 2 ) exchange dominates the reaction for √ s ⩾ 30 GeV, as described by simple Regge-pole models.

Phys.Lett.B 67 (1977) 367-370, 1977.
Inspire Record 118873 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27568

We have measured the production cross section for K s 0 in e + e − annihilation from 3.6 to 5.0 GeV center of mass energy. A substantial increase of the K s 0 yield is observed around 4 GeV in qualitative agreement with the charm hypothesis.

New measurements of proton proton total cross-section at the CERN intersecting storage rings

The CERN-Pisa-Rome-Stony Brook collaboration Amaldi, U. ; Cocconi, G. ; Diddens, A.N. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 62 (1976) 460-466, 1976.
Inspire Record 108915 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27653

Measurements of the proton-proton total cross section have been made with increased precision (±0.6%) over the ISR energy range s =23.5−62.7 GeV . Two different experimental methods gave consistent results, showing that the total cross section increases 10% over the ISR range and in addition that the absolute value of the ISR luminosity can be measured to ±0.9%.

Nucl.Phys.B 107 (1976) 82, 1976.
Inspire Record 108127 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.35861

We present a comparative study of inclusive and semi-inclusive pion production in pp collisions at 102 and 400 GeV/ c . In particular, we examine the correlation between transverse and longitudinal momentum variables and the energy dependence of invariant cross sections.

Inclusive $\pi^0$ Production by High-Energy Protons

Phys.Rev.D 14 (1976) 1196, 1976.
Inspire Record 99992 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.4894

Measurements of the cross section for the reaction p+p→π0+anything have been completed. The data cover a range of incident proton energies 50-400 GeV, π0 transverse momenta 0.3-4 GeV/c, and laboratory angles 30-275 mrad. The experiment was performed using the internal proton beam at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. A lead-glass counter was used to detect photons from the decay of π0's produced by collisions in thin targets of hydrogen or carbon. Tables of the measured cross sections are presented.

We report on partial results of the analysis of a p̄p backward elastic scattering experiment, between 175 and 750 MeV/ c . Various evidences are given of the resonant nature of a backward peak at the S-meson mass. Analysis leads to J PC =4 ++ , firmly connected to other experimental data with I G =1 − . All results agree for an assignment to the A 2 trajectory.

Inspire Record 81962 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21360

We have measured the total inelastic cross section (σinel) and charged-particle multiplicities obtained in pp collisions at 405 GeV/c. The data are from a preliminary 12 000-picture bubble-chamber exposure. We find σinel=32.8±1.0 mb; the low moments of the multiplicity distribution for negative particles are 〈n−〉=3.50±0.07, D−=2.37±0.05, f2−=2.1±0.2, and f3−=0.1±0.9. We also present updated results at 102 GeV/c.

We present the first results of an experiment at the CERN intersecting storage rings, which measures the total cross-section in proton-proton collisions. The equivalent laboratory momenta are 291, 496, 1068 and 1480 GeV/c. We have made a direct measurement of αT as the ratio between the total interaction rate and the machine luminosity. The present paper gives a detailed description of the experimental apparatus and of the analysis procedure. We find that αT increases by about 10% in the energy region studied.

The Energy dependence of the proton proton total cross-section for center-of-mass energies between 23 and 53 GeV

Amaldi, U. ; Biancastelli, R. ; Bosio, C. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 44 (1973) 112-118, 1973.
Inspire Record 83729 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28110

Measurements of proton-proton elastic scattering at angles around 6 mrad have been made at centre-of-mass energies of 23, 31, 45 and 53 GeV using the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings. The absolute scale of the cross-section was established by determination of the effective density of the colliding beans in their overlap region. Proton-proton total cross sections were deduced by extrapolation of the elastic differential cross-section to the forward direction and by application of the optical theorem. The results indicate that over the energy range studied the proton-proton total cross-section increases from about 39 to about 43 mb.

Proton-proton elastic scattering has been measured at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings in the four-momentum transfer range 0.001 ⩽… t …⩽ 0.015 GeV 2 at centre-of-mass energies of 23 and 31 GeV. The detection of Coulomb scattering and of its interference with nuclear scattering leads to the determination of the real part of the nuclear amplitude and of the total proton-proton cross section by the optical theorem.
