We report a high-statistics measurement of the neutron-proton charge-exchange differential cross section for incident momenta 3 to 12 GeVc, and four-momentum transfers 0.003 to 0.85 (GeVc)2. The data are normalized absolutely to ±20%. The differential cross section is characterized by a sharp peak at small momentum transfers, with a gentler exponential behavior at large momentum transfers. This shape is remarkably independent of the incident momentum.

The reaction π-p→pωπ- has been studied at 9.1 GeV/c, its total cross-section is σ=(123±22) μb. The pB− and the quasi-three-body channels contribute with cross-section of σ=(24±7) μb and σ=(94±23) μb, respectively. The main features of the quasi-three-body pωπ- channel, displayed by some techniques of data presentation, are satisfactorily described by a double-Regge-pole model. In this model pomeron-meson and meson-meson exchanges are taken into account. An OPE modelà la Veneziano predicts a total cross-section too high and reproduces very poorly the observed features.

We have measured the polarization parameter in neuton-proton charge-exchange scattering for incident neutron momenta of 2-12 GeVc and 0.01<~|t|<~1.0 (GeVc)2. Results based on 300 000 events show a negative polarization whose magnitude increases monotonically with |t| approaching 60% for |t|∼0.6 and which has little energy dependence.

Differential Cross-Sections for pi- p --> gamma n in the First Resonance Region

Differential cross-sections for negative pion radiative capture on protons at c.m. angles of 60°, 90°, and 120° have been measured at nine incident laboratory energies between 110 and 270 MeV. Comparison with measured cross-sections for pion photoproduction and with conventional multipole analyses shows neither evidence for a violation of time reversal invariance nor for an isotensor component of the electromagnetic current of hardrons.

The production of ψ(3.1) mesons is reported for the reactions π−+Fe→μ++μ−+anything, at 200 GeV, and p+Fe→μ++μ−+anything, at 240 GeV. For ψ production, distributions in x≡PLPbeam and P⊥ are given. For x>~0.5, the ratio of the ψ production cross sections in iron for pions to that for protons is found to be 7.4±2.0.

Study of D Mesons Produced in the Decay of the psi-prime-prime (3772)

Phys.Rev.Lett. 39 (1977) 1301, 1977.
Inspire Record 120878 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21003

From a study of D mesons produced in the decay ψ(3772)→DD¯, we have determined the masses of the D0 and D+ mesons to be 1863.3±0.9 MeV/c2 and 1868.3±0.9 MeV/c2, respectively. Under the assumption that the ψ(3772) has a definite isospin and decays only to DD¯, the D0 branching fractions to K−π+, K¯0π+π−, and K−π+π−π+ are (2.2±0.6)%, (4.0 ± 1.3)%, and (3.2±1.1)% and the D+ branching fractions to K¯0π+ and K−π+π+ are (1.5±0.6)% and (3.9±1.0)%.
