Cross-sections for the production of a $Z$ boson in association with two photons are measured in proton$-$proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The data used correspond to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb$^{-1}$ recorded by the ATLAS experiment during Run 2 of the LHC. The measurements use the electron and muon decay channels of the $Z$ boson, and a fiducial phase-space region where the photons are not radiated from the leptons. The integrated $Z(\rightarrow\ell\ell)\gamma\gamma$ cross-section is measured with a precision of 12% and differential cross-sections are measured as a function of six kinematic variables of the $Z\gamma\gamma$ system. The data are compared with predictions from MC event generators which are accurate to up to next-to-leading order in QCD. The cross-section measurements are used to set limits on the coupling strengths of dimension-8 operators in the framework of an effective field theory.
Measured fiducial-level integrated cross-section. NLO predictions from Sherpa 2.2.10 and MadGraph5_aMC@NLO 2.7.3 are also shown. The uncertainty in the predictions is divided into statistical and theoretical uncertainties (scale and PDF+$\alpha_{s}$).
Measured unfolded differential cross-section as a function of the leading photon transverse energy $E^{\gamma1}_{\mathrm{T}}$. NLO predictions from Sherpa 2.2.10 and MadGraph5_aMC@NLO 2.7.3 are also shown. The uncertainty in the predictions is divided into statistical and theoretical uncertainties (scale and PDF+$\alpha_{s}$).
Measured unfolded differential cross-section as a function of the subleading photon transverse energy $E^{\gamma2}_{\mathrm{T}}$. NLO predictions from Sherpa 2.2.10 and MadGraph5_aMC@NLO 2.7.3 are also shown. The first observation of open b production in ep collisions is reported. An event sample containing muons and jets has been selected which is enriched in semileptonic b quark decays. The visible cross section \sigma(ep -> b \bar{b}X -> \mu X') for Q^2 < 1 GeV^2, 0.1 < y < 0.8 is measured to be 0.176+-0.016(stat.)+0.026-0.017(syst.) nb for the muons to be detected in the range 35 deg < \theta^\mu < 130 deg and \pt^\mu > 2.0 GeV in the laboratory frame. The expected visible cross section based on a NLO QCD calculation is 0.104+-0.017 nb. The cross sections for electroproduction with Q^2<1 GeV^2 and photoproduction are derived from the data and found to be \sigma(ep-> e b\bar{b}X) = 7.1+-0.6(stat.)+1.5-1.3(syst.) nb and \sigma(\gamma p-> b\bar{b} X) = 111+-10(stat.)+23-20(syst.) at an average <W_{\gamma p}> \sim 180 GeV, respectively.

Using the CLEO detector at the Cornell $e~+e~-$ storage ring, CESR, we study the two-photon production of $\Lambda \overline{\Lambda}$, making the first observation of $\gamma \gamma \to \Lambda \overline{\Lambda}$. We present the cross-section for $ \gamma \gamma \to \Lambda \overline{\Lambda}$ as a function of the $\gamma \gamma$ center of mass energy and compare it to that predicted by the quark-diquark model.

A maximum likelihood analysis of ARGUS data on two-photon production of π + π + π 0 π 0 π − π − is presented. A small fraction of events is due to the production of omega pairs. The γγ → ωω cross section has its maximum value close to threshold.
Results of maximum liklihood analysis.
The inclusive production of D ∗± mesons in photon-photon collisions has been measured by the Aleph experiment at LEP with a beam energy of 45 GeV. The D ∗+ are detected in their decay to D 0 π + with the D 0 observed in three separate decay modes: (1) K − π + , (2) K − π + π 0 and (3) K − π + π − π + , and analagously for the D ∗− modes. A total of 33 events was observed from an integrated luminosity of 73 pb −1 which corresponds to a cross section for Σ( e + e − → e + e − D ∗± X ) of 155 ± 33 ± 21 pb. This result is compatible with both the direct production γγ → c c in the Born approximation and with a more complete calculation which includes both radiative QCD corrections and contributions in which one of the photons is first resolved into its quark and gluon constituents. The shapes of distributions for events containing a D ∗+ are found to be better described by the latter.

Two-photon production of the hadronic final states K + K − π + π − and K + K − π + π 0 π − has been studied using the ARGUS detector at the e + e − storage ring DORIS II at DESY. The cross sections of the reactions γγ → øϱ 0 and γγ → øω have been measured for the first time. In addition, angular distrubutions have been determined for the reaction γγ → øϱ 0 → K + K − π + π − .

A measurement of the cross section for the combined two-photon production of charged pion and kaon pairs is performed using 1.2~$\rm fb^{-1}$ of data collected by the CLEO~II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring. The cross section is measured at invariant masses of the two-photon system between 1.5 and 5.0 GeV/$c^2$, and at scattering angles more than $53^\circ$ away from the $\gamma\gamma$ collision axis in the $\gamma\gamma$ center-of-mass frame. The large background of leptonic events is suppressed by utilizing the CsI calorimeter in conjunction with the muon chamber system. The reported cross section is compared with leading order QCD models as well as previous experiments. In particular, although the functional dependence of the measured cross section disagrees with leading order QCD at small values of the two-photon invariant mass, the data show a transition to perturbative behavior at an invariant mass of approximately 2.5 GeV/$c^2$. hardcopies with figures can be obtained by writing to to: Pam Morehouse preprint secretary Newman Lab Cornell University Ithaca, NY 14853 or by sending mail to: preprints@lns62.lns.cornell.edu
There is an additional 10 pct point-to-point systematic error as well as the overall uncertainty given above.
The CLEO II detector is used to search for the production of χc2 states in two-photon interactions. We use the signature χc2→γJ/ψ→γl+l− with l=e,μ. Using 1.49 fb−1 of data taken with beam energies near 5.29 GeV, the two-photon width of the χc2 is determined to be Γ(χc2→γγ)=1.08±0.30(stat)±0.26(syst) keV, in agreement with predictions from perturbative QCD.
Results below were obtained usign J/psi from-factors in the two photon propogators, and assumes that only transversely polarized photons are significant inthe production of the CHI/C2(1P) state.
