|Tz|=32Δ(1238) systems are studied from the standpoint of direct production utilizing experimental data on the reactions pp→pπ+n, pp→pπ+π−p, pp→pπ+π−π0p, and pp→pπ+π−π+n. Resonance-production total and differential cross sections are presented, in addition to the decay density-matrix elements. It is demonstrated that the experimentally defined Δ(1238) systems are not characterized solely by spin-parity 32+, and that corresponding elements of the density matrices of both pπ+ and π−n cases generally behave in a similar manner with increasing c.m. angle. Additional detailed studies of the t-channel moments are presented for peripherally produced πN systems as a function of both c.m. angle and πN invariant mass. Dynamical differences are observed between the pπ+ and nπ− moments for the very peripheral data. One-pion-exchange-model predictions are compared with the peripheral pπ+ moments and with several invariant-mass distributions from the pp→pπ+π−p data. Complications arising from the presence of two pπ+ combinations in the four- and five-body final-state data are discussed.

Properties of the underlying-event in $pp$ interactions are investigated primarily via the strange hadrons $K_{S}^{0}$, $\Lambda$ and $\bar\Lambda$, as reconstructed using the ATLAS detector at the LHC in minimum-bias $pp$ collision data at $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV. The hadrons are reconstructed via the identification of the displaced two-particle vertices corresponding to the decay modes $K_{S}^{0}\rightarrow\pi^+\pi^-$, $\Lambda\rightarrow\pi^-p$ and $\bar\Lambda\rightarrow\pi^+\bar{p}$. These are used in the construction of underlying-event observables in azimuthal regions computed relative to the leading charged-particle jet in the event. None of the hadronisation and underlying-event physics models considered can describe the data over the full kinematic range considered. Events with a leading charged-particle jet in the range of $10 < p_T \leq 40$ GeV are studied using the number of prompt charged particles in the transverse region. The ratio $N(\Lambda\rightarrow\pi^\mp p^\pm)/N(K_{S}^{0}\rightarrow\pi^+\pi^-)$ as a function of the number of such charged particles varies only slightly over this range. This disagrees with the expectations of some of the considered Monte Carlo models.

A search for the leptonic charge asymmetry ($A_\text{c}^{\ell}$) of top-quark$-$antiquark pair production in association with a $W$ boson ($t\bar{t}W$) is presented. The search is performed using final states with exactly three charged light leptons (electrons or muons) and is based on $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV proton$-$proton collision data collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN during the years 2015$-$2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb$^{-1}$. A profile-likelihood fit to the event yields in multiple regions corresponding to positive and negative differences between the pseudorapidities of the charged leptons from top-quark and top-antiquark decays is used to extract the charge asymmetry. At reconstruction level, the asymmetry is found to be $-0.123 \pm 0.136$ (stat.) $\pm \, 0.051$ (syst.). An unfolding procedure is applied to convert the result at reconstruction level into a charge-asymmetry value in a fiducial volume at particle level with the result of $-0.112 \pm 0.170$ (stat.) $\pm \, 0.054$ (syst.). The Standard Model expectations for these two observables are calculated using Monte Carlo simulations with next-to-leading-order plus parton shower precision in quantum chromodynamics and including next-to-leading-order electroweak corrections. They are $-0.084 \, ^{+0.005}_{-0.003}$ (scale) $\pm\, 0.006$ (MC stat.) and $-0.063 \, ^{+0.007}_{-0.004}$ (scale) $\pm\, 0.004$ (MC stat.) respectively, and in agreement with the measurements.
Measured values of the leptonic charge asymmetry ($A_c^{\ell}$) in ttW production in the three lepton channel. Results are given at reconstruction level and at particle level. Expected values are obtained using the Sherpa MC generator.

Results are presented from the first p p colliding beam runs at the CERN ISR, using the UA5 streamer chamber detector. p p interactions at s = 53 GeV are compared with pp data taken in the same experiment. The results are in good agreement with extrapolations of low-energy p p data.

In an experiment performed at Fermilab we have studied the production of high p t hadron jets from 400 GeV/ c pp interactions. A large solid-angle, towered calorimeter was used to trigger and reconstruct the jet events. We report results for inclusive single-jet production and compare those results with QCD predictions and results obtained at the ISR and the SPS Collider.
The invariant distribution is fitted to CONST*(1/PT**POWER)*(1-XT)**POWER.
The ALICE collaboration reports the measurement of the inclusive J/psi yield as a function of charged particle pseudorapidity density dN_{ch}/deta in pp collisions at sqrt{s} = 7 TeV at the LHC. J/psi particles are detected for p_t > 0, in the rapidity interval |y| < 0.9 via decay into e+e-, and in the interval 2.5 < y < 4.0 via decay into mu+mu- pairs. An approximately linear increase of the J/psi yields normalized to their event average (dN_{J/psi}/dy)/<dN_{J/psi}/dy> with (dN_{ch}/deta)/<dN_{ch}/deta> is observed in both rapidity ranges, where dN_{ch}/deta is measured within |eta| < 1 and p_t > 0. In the highest multiplicity interval with <dN_{ch}/deta(bin)> = 24.1, corresponding to four times the minimum bias multiplicity density, an enhancement relative to the minimum bias J/psi yield by a factor of about 5 at 2.5 < y < 4 (8 at |y| < 0.9) is observed.

The invariant cross section for production of jet pairs in 400-GeV/c pp interactions has been measured as a function of pT in the pT range 4 to 9 GeV/c. The results are in good agreement with predictions of perturbative QCD models.
ACTUALLY THE PT IS THE AVERAGE OF THE 2 JETS.
A systematic study has been made of the reactions pp→pp and pp→pN* in the angular range from θlab=10∘ to θc.m.=90∘ at 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 GeVc. An orthogonal dispersion magnetic spectrometer detected protons from interactions in hydrogen with momentum transfer (−t) in excess of 0.5 (GeV)2. Well-defined peaks in the missing-mass spectra occurred at average N* masses of 1240±6, 1508±2, and 1683±3 MeV with average full widths of 102±4, 92±3, and 110±4 MeV, respectively. Below 2400 MeV no other significant enhancements were found. The N* production cross sections dσdt near θc.m.=90∘ are in qualitative agreement with the predictions of the statistical model. For each isobar the differential cross section at fixed energy varies as exp(−vv0), where v≡[−tu(t+u)]; v0 varies systematically with energy and tends toward the same value (≈0.4 GeV2) for each isobar at the upper limit of our energy range.

We report the measurement of charged $D^*$ mesons in inclusive jets produced in proton-proton collisions at a center of mass energy $\sqrt{s}$ = 200 GeV with the STAR experiment at RHIC. For $D^{*}$ mesons with fractional momenta $0.2 < z < 0.5$ in inclusive jets with 11.5 GeV mean transverse energy, the production rate is found to be $N(D^{*+}+D^{*-})/N(\mathrm{jet}) = 0.015 \pm 0.008 (\mathrm{stat}) \pm 0.007 (\mathrm{sys})$. This rate is consistent with perturbative QCD evaluation of gluon splitting into a pair of charm quarks and subsequent hadronization.
