This paper reports the results of an experiment measuring the parameters of various electroproduction reactions for a range in the electroproduction variables 0.7<Q2<4 GeV2 and 2<W2<16 GeV2. This report is limited to nondiffractive exclusive channels, with detailed results regarding the πΔ final states, statistically limited results for KΛ final states, and upper limits on the production of a number of event topologies containing a single unseen neutral particle.

Total cross sections for reactions e + e − → π + π − π 0 , π + π − π 0 , 2 π + 2 π − π 0 , 2 π + 2 π − 2 π 0 , 3 π + 3 π − have been measured in the total c.m. energy range 1.42–2.20 GeV. Partial R = σ had / σ σ + μ − values for two and four produced charged pions, and cross sections for positive and negative G -parity states are also reported.
THE CROSS SECTIONS FOR PRODUCING AN ODD OR EVEN NUMBER OF PIONS CORRESPOND TO NEGATIVE OR POSITIVE G-PARITY FINAL STATES. CROSS SECTION FOR E+ E- --> PI+ PI+ PI+ PI- PI- PI- IS LESS THAN ABOUT 2 NB IN THIS ENERGY RANGE.

A tagged photon beam and multiparticle spectrometer have been used to measure the backward photoproduction process γp → Δ ++ π − . The energy dependence of the production cross section between 2.8 and 4.8 GeV is studied and found to exhibit shrinkage in excess of that expected for Δ σ dominance. An interpretation of the production mechanism in terms of an incoherent mixture of Δ σ exchange and a “hard scattering” contribution is presented.

We present new high statistics data on hadron production in photon-photon reactions. The data are analyzed in terms of an electron-photon scattering formalism. The dependence of the total cross section of Q 2 , the four-momentum transfer squared of the scattered electron, and on the mass W of the hadronic system is investigated. The data are compared to predictions from Vector-Meson Dominance and the quark model.

A tagged photon beam (2.8<Eγ<4.8 GeV) and multiparticle spectrometer have been used to study the photoproduction in hydrogen ofK+Λ(1520). Precise values for the mass and width of the Λ(1520) are given. The total cross-section is found to fall with increasing photon energy like (6.5±0.7)Eγ−(2.1±0.2) μb. The differential cross sectiondσ/dt indicates peripheral forward production and exhibits no evidence for shrinkage when compared with higher energy data. The Λ(1520) spin density matrix shows thatK exchange alone cannot account for the production mechanism. The reaction is found to resemble the process γp→K+ Λ(1115) in all measurable respects.
FITTED CROSS SECTION ENERGY DEPENDENCE IS SIG = (6.7 +- 0.7 MUB*GEV**2) * P**(-2.1 +- 0.2), INCLUDING HIGHER ENERGY DATA.
EXPONENTIAL SLOPE IS 6.1 +- 2.0 GEV**-2 FOR -T = 0.2 TO 0.7 GEV**2.

We present differential cross sections andΔ++ spin density matrix elements for the photoproduction processγp→π−Δ++ and differential cross sections for the processγp→π+Δ0. The incident photon energy dependence is studied and a comparison is made with previous experiments and with the predictions of a theoretical model.

Cross sections for ρ0 electroproduction measured in a streamer-chamber experiment are separated into elastic (ep→epρ0) and inelastic production channels. For the elastic channel, the total cross section and t dependence are presented. For the inelastic channel (1σ)dσdz, (1σ)dσdpT2, and a density matrix element are shown and compared to quark-parton-model predictions. The ratio of ρ0 to direct π0 production is found to be 2.0±0.5±0.3, where the first error is statistical, and the second error is systematic.

This paper presents the results of a study of the dominant neutral final states from π−p interactions. The data were obtained in an experiment performed at the Brookhaven National Laboratory Alternating Gradient Synchrotron, using a set of steel-plate optical spark chambers surrounding a liquid-hydrogen target. We present differential and total cross sections for the reactions (1) π−p→n+π0 and (2) π−p→n+η0(η0→2γ) and total cross sections for the reactions (3) π−p→n+kπ0 (k=2, 3, 4, and 5) and (4) π−p→all neutrals for eighteen values of beam momentum in the interval 1.3 to 4.0 GeV/c. The angular distributions for (1) and (2) have been analyzed in terms of expansions in Legendre polynomials, the coefficients for which are also given.

FORWARD DIFFERENTIAL CROSS SECTION CALCULATED FROM LEGENDRE POLYNOMIAL COEFFICIENTS AND ERROR MATRICES.
We present results for the reactions K 0 p →Λπ + and K 0 p →∑ 0 π + , for |u'| <0. 05 ( GeV /c) 2 and kaon momenta between 1 and 8 GeV/ c . The experiment was performed ina neutral beam at the PS with a two arm spark chamber spectrometer. The cross sections show strong dependence on beam energy and momentum transfer u ′. Λ polarization is compatible with zero. We compare energy dependence of the backward cross sections with the baryon exchange model from π N scattering.
