The total neutron cross-sections were measured with high precision for hydrogen and deuterium. At an average neutron momentum of 10 GeV/c we obtained σ T (np)=39.5±0.5 mb and σ T (nd)=73.3±1.1 mb. These values are in excellent agreement with p-p and p-d total cross sections. No energy dependence was found for n-p cross section between 4 and 10 GeV/c.

Double Statistical Tensors for the Reaction p p --> Delta++ Delta0 in a Range of 5-GeV/c to 25-GeV/c

The Genoa-World Proton-Proton collaboration Caso, C. ; Girimonte, L. ;
Nuovo Cim.A 33 (1976) 671, 1976.
Inspire Record 3097 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.9285

The joint decay distribution for the reaction pp → Δ++Δ0 is described in terms of double statistical tensors, which were determined in a model-independent way using the World Proton-Proton Data Summary Tape. The statistical tensors were calculated in nontransversal and in transversal reference frames. The results are presented as a function of the proton laboratory momentum, covering the range from 5 to 25 GeV/c. Due to a lack of statistics, the values as a function of the four-momentum transfers were obtained by adding together data from different energies. Results are again given in several reference frames.

STUDY OF THE DIFFERENTIAL CROSS-SECTION FOR THE REACTION K(L) p ---> K(S) p BETWEEN 5 AND 10-GeV/c INCIDENT MOMENTUM

Mugge, Marshall ; McQuate, David ; Morse, Robert ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 20 (1979) 2105-2112, 1979.
Inspire Record 147369 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.4406

We discuss a measurement of the differential cross section for the reaction KLp→KSp for incident momenta between 5 and 10 GeV/c and the |t| region 0.025 to 0.5 (GeV/c)2, carried out using the SLAC 15-in. rapid-cycling hydrogen bubble chamber triggered by the K0 spectrometer facility. This hybrid detector allowed measurement of the KL beam momentum, measurement of the recoil-proton momentum, and measurement of the decay position and momentum of the KS. Over this momentum region the ratio of the real to imaginary part of the forward-scattering amplitude was determined to be 0.93±0.24 and the phase of the forward-scattering amplitude was determined to be -(138±7)°. A fit to the forward differential cross section of the form dσdt∝p2α(t)−2 to our data together with previous measurements of the KLp→KSp differential cross section at this and lower momenta yielded an α(0)=0.39±0.10 for the dominant ω Regge trajectory. The value of α(0) as determined from the phase φ=−π[α(0)+1]2 is 0.54±0.11.

Using the DASP detector at the DESY storage ring DORIS we have continued measuring e + e − annihilations near and on the ϒ(9.46) resonance. From the cross sections for e + e − → μ + μ − and e + e − → hadrons we obtain a μ + μ − branching ratio for the ϒ(9.46) of (2.9 ± 1.3 ± 0.5) %, a leptonic width г ee = (1.35 ± 0.11 ± 0.22) keV and a total width of (47 −15 +37 keV.

Inclusive $\rho^0$ Production in Anti-neutrino $p$ Charged Current Interactions

Using data from the Fermilab 15 ft hydrogen bubble chamber, we have studied inclusive ϱ 0 production in antineutrino-proton charged-current interactions. We measure (0.21 ± 0.03) ϱ 0 /event, corresponding to ϱ 0 / π − =0.12 ± 0.02. As a function of Q 2 and for hadronic masses above a threshold region, the ϱ 0 / π − ratio shows little variation. At least 50% of the ϱ 0 's are consistent with coming from the current fragmentation region. The results agree reasonably well with the predictions of the quark fragmentation model of Feynman and field.

Measurement of Elastic electron Scattering from the Proton at High Momentum Transfer

Arnold, R.G. ; Bosted, Peter E. ; Chang, C.C. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 57 (1986) 174, 1986.
Inspire Record 228320 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.3133

We have performed absolute measurements of the differential cross section for elastic e−p scattering in the range of momentum transfer from Q2=2.9 to 31.3 (GeV/c)2. Combined statistical and systematic uncertainties in the cross-section measurements ranged from 3% at low Q2 to 19% at high Q2. These data have been used to extract the proton magnetic form factor GMp(Q2). The results show a smooth decrease of Q4GMp with momentum transfer above Q2=10 (GeV/c)2. These results are compared with recent predictions of perturbative QCD.

Measurement of Inclusive $\eta$ Production in $e^+ e^-$ Interactions Near Charm Threshold

Inspire Record 165255 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.3280

We have measured the inclusive cross section for η production in e+e− interactions near charm threshold using the Crystal Ball detector. No pronounced structure in the energy dependence is observed. By comparing cross sections above and below charm threshold we obtain the limits (90% confidence limit): R(e+e−→FF¯X)RB(F→ηx)<0.15−0.32 (for Ec.m. from 4.0 to 4.5 GeV), RB(D→ηx)<0.13. Our results are inconsistent with a previous report of a large energy dependence of the η cross section ascribed to the crossing of the FF* and F*F* production thresholds.

The reaction γ+p→π++n has been measured for incident γ-ray energies from 0.7 to 8 GeV and recoil lab angles from 170° to 180° using the Cornell 10-GeV synchrotron. The data presented here cover the transition region between the resonance region and the high-energy region studied at SLAC. The results are compared with various phenomenological Regge-pole analyses and with similar data on π0 photoproduction taken at DESY.

W**2 and Q**2 dependence of charged hadron and pion multiplicities in neutrino p and anti-neutrino p charged current interactions

Using data onvp and\(\bar vp\) charged current interactions from a bubble chamber experiment with BEBC at CERN, the average multiplicities of charged hadrons and pions are determined as functions ofW2 andQ2. The analysis is based on ∼20000 events with incidentv and ∼10000 events with incident\(\bar v\). In addition to the known dependence of the average multiplicity onW2 a weak dependence onQ2 for fixed intervals ofW is observed. ForW>2 GeV andQ2>0.1 GeV2 the average multiplicity of charged hadrons is well described by〈n〉=a1+a2ln(W2/GeV2)+a3ln(Q2/GeV2) witha1=0.465±0.053,a2=1.211±0.021,a3=0.103±0.014 for thevp anda1=−0.372±0.073,a2=1.245±0.028,a3=0.093±0.015 for the\(\bar vp\) reaction.
