We have analyzed 2560 events in the final-state K O 1 K O 1 n produced in π − p interactions at 5, 7 and 12 GeV/ c . We observe the S ∗ (1070), f O and A 2 decaying into K O 1 K O 1 . Resonance parameters, cross sections, and branching ratios are given.

Peripheral Dipion Production by Pions of 12 and 18 GeV/c

Jones, Lawrence W. ; Bleuler, E. ; Caldwell, D.O. ; et al.
Phys.Rev. 166 (1968) 1405-1430, 1968.
Inspire Record 944942 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.26526

A spark-chamber experiment on the peripheral production of 9245 pion pairs by 12- and 18-GeV/c incident pions is reported and analyzed in terms of a one-pion-exchange model in which the final state at the nucleon vertex contains generally one or more pions. The relevant dynamics and kinematics appropriate to this problem are reviewed, and the experimental and analysis techniques giving good resolution and detection-bias correction are discussed in some detail. From the results, fair agreement is found between the data and the one-pion-exchange calculation of the ρ0 production cross sections and of the associated missing-mass spectra. The ρ0 is found to be consistent with a single peak, and no evidence of peak splitting is observed. A search for a narrow s-wave dipion resonance is made with negative results. Normalizing to the ρ0 meson, the s-wave π+π− scattering cross section is computed from the abundant low-dipion-mass events, giving a cross section falling smoothly from 50 mb (300 MeV) to about 20 mb (600 MeV). No evidence of an s-wave resonance is found in this range of energies. Below 450 MeV, the pion-pion scattering asymmetry favors backward scattering (by 2½ standard deviations), which is consistent with a negative and falling J=T=0 phase shift. The extrapolated forward-backward asymmetry and the s-wave cross section are both consistent with a J=T=0 phase shift near|90°| at about 750 MeV.

Anti-p-p elastic scattering at 8 and 16 gev/c

Birnbaum, D. ; Edelstein, R.M. ; Hien, N.C. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 23 (1969) 663-666, 1969.

Angular distributions are presented for p¯−p elastic scattering at 8 and 16 GeV/c for |t|<1.3 (GeV/c)2. At both energies there is structure in the differential cross sections in the region 0.5<~|t|<~1.0 (GeV/c)2, similar to that observed at lower energies. The diffraction peak continues to expand with increasing incident momentum.

Anti-p-p backward elastic scattering from 0.7 to 2.16 gev/c

Phys.Rev.Lett. 23 (1969) 506-510, 1969.

Elastic scattering of p¯ on p has been studied for cosθc.m. between -0.88 and -1.0 and Plab(p¯) between 0.70 and 2.16 GeV/c. The momentum dependence of the cross section shows a sharp dip at 0.9 GeV/c and a broad peaking around 1.4 GeV/c. The possibility of the peak resulting from direct formation of boson resonances has been studied. Alternatively, a diffraction model agrees qualitatively with our data and other elastic data at different angles.

A study of the reaction pi-minus + p ---> lambda + anti-lambda + n at 7 and 12 gev/c

Phys.Lett.B 28 (1968) 211-214, 1968.
Inspire Record 56830 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.29078

Over 100 unambiguous π − + p → Λ + Λ + n events have been observed in a magnet spark chamber. The data provide good evidence for peripheral production of Λ Λ and n Λ (via meson exchange) and against peripheral n Λ (double baryon exchange). No resonances in the Λ Λ system are observed. Angular distributions and Λ( Λ ) polarizations are analysed.

The total and elastic cross sections for antineutrons on protons have been measured for antineutron momenta from 0.5 to 2.5 GeV/c. The results are in agreement with previous p¯p data at these momenta.

Neutron-proton total cross-sections between 8 gev/c and 21 gev/c

Neutron-proton total cross-sections were measured in the momentum range from 8 GeV/ c to 21 GeV/ c with an accuracy of better than 2% using a 0 o neutron beam at the CERN Proton Synchrotron. The np total cross-section drops from 39.7 mb at 8 GeV/ c at 21 GeV/ c , and thus follows closely the pp total cross-sections in this momentum interval.

Total hadronic (gamma, p) and (gamma, d) cross-sections from 4 to 18 gev/c

Photoabsorption cross sections in hydrogen and deuterium have been measured from 3.7 to 17.9 GeV. The energy dependences are similar to those of strong-interaction total cross sections, as expected from the vector-meson-dominance model. The magnitude of σT(γp) can be compared with data from γp→ρ0p to determine a γ−p coupling constant, γρ24π=0.37±0.03. This value disagrees with that obtained on the ρ mass shell, and hence there is only qualitative agreement with the vector-meson-dominance model.

Neutron-proton elastic scattering from 5 to 30 gev/c

Gibbard, B.G. ; Longo, M.J. ; Jones, Lawrence W. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 30 (1971) 77-115, 1971.
Inspire Record 68614 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.33298

The differential cross section for neutron-proton elastic scattering was measured in the diffraction region with incident neutron momenta between 5 and 30 GeV/ c . The experiment was an optical-spark-chamber-counter experiment conducted at the Brookhaven National Laboratory alternating gradient synchrotron. A well collimated neutron beam with a broad energy spectrum was incident on a liquid hydrogen target. The scattered neutrons were detected in a thick-plate spark-chamber array while the recoil protons were detected and momentum analyzed in a magnetic spectrometer with thin-foil spark chambers.
