The final results of an experimental investigation of the reaction γ+n→p+π− performed with a deuterium bubble chamber at the 1 GeV Frascati electrosynchrotron are presented. Total and differential cross-sections on neutrons are extracted by means of the spectator model, the reliability of which has been checked by numerous tests and is extensively discussed. The problems of a possible isotensor component in the electromagnetic current, the time-reversal invariance of the electromagnetic interactions and the photoproduction of the Roper resonance are considered in detail.

Single pi0 photoproduction has been studied with the CB-ELSA experiment at Bonn using tagged photon energies between 0.3 and 3.0 GeV. The experimental setup covers a very large solid angle of about 98% of 4 pi. Differential cross sections (d sigma)/(d Omega) have been measured. Complicated structures in the angular distributions indicate a variety of different resonances being produced in the s channel intermediate state gamma p --> N* (Delta*) --> p pi0. A combined analysis including the data presented in this letter along with other data sets reveals contributions from known resonances and evidence for a new resonance N(2070)D15.
Total cross section for GAMMA P --> P PI0 obtained by integration of the angular distributions and extrapolation into the forward and backward regions using the PWA result.
Differential cross section as a function of c.m. angle for the photon energy range 425 to 550 GeV.
The total cross sections for the three γp → Nππ reactions have been measured for photon energies from 400 to 800 MeV. The γ p → p π 0 π 0 and γ p → n π + π 0 cross sections have never been measured before while the γ p → p π + π − results are much improved compared to earlier data. These measurements were performed with the large acceptance hadronic detector DAPHNE, at the tagged photon beam facility of the MAMI microtron in Mainz.

The differential cross sections for the γ + n → π O + n reaction have been measured at the photon energies of 500–900 MeV. The ratios, R oo = [ d δ d Ω(γ n → π o n ) ] [ d δ d Ω(γ p → π o p ) ] , have been obtained at the c.m. pion angles of 60 O , 90 O , 105 O , 120 O , and 140 O .
Axis error includes +- 0.0/0.0 contribution (8 TO 11////).

This paper reports the results of an experiment measuring the parameters of various electroproduction reactions for a range in the electroproduction variables 0.7<Q2<4 GeV2 and 2<W2<16 GeV2. This report is limited to nondiffractive exclusive channels, with detailed results regarding the πΔ final states, statistically limited results for KΛ final states, and upper limits on the production of a number of event topologies containing a single unseen neutral particle.

The rates for forward electroproduction of single charged pions from deutrium have been measured in the resonance region, at a virtual photon mass squared ≈−0.5( GeV/ c 2 ) 2 . Results are presented in the form of a π − to π + cross-section ratio.

Large-angle cross sections for γd→π0d are systematically measured in the photon energy range between 500 and 1000 MeV. A good fit is obtained by use of a Glauber-model calculation which includes the dibaryon resonances F33(2.26) and G41(2.51), but the fit has an unusual nature in the role of resonance and nonresonance contributions.

Differential cross sections for π−p→γn have been determined from 427 to 625 MeV/c, mainly at 90° and 110° c.m. The data were obtained by combining measurements of the Panofsky ratio in flight with known charge-exchange cross sections. The results are compared with γn→π−p data derived from γd experiments; the difference is typically 30%. The radiative decay amplitudes of neutral πN resonances are therefore uncertain by at least 30%.
