The total 1r- -p interaction cross sections (of) were measured with an accuracy of 1.5-2% for about 50 pion energies between 140 and 360 Mev. The pion energy was known to within ± 1%. No anomalies in the energy dependence of Of were found which could indicate the existence of a p0meson with a mass in the range of 270 to 410 Mev/c2• The data are inconsistent with the energy value E2 = 650 Mev for the second maximum of Of found by Frisch et al. 7 but agree with the conclusion drawn by Brisson et al. 8 that it should be located at a lower energy ( E2 :::::: 610 Mev). The data are in agreement with the dispersion relations for 1r- -p scattering. It is thus demonstrated that the PuppiStanghellini problem as such no longer exists and that it arose only as a result of an inaccurate knowledge of the total 1r--p interaction cross section.

The rr- + p- n + rr0 charge-exchange scattering and the rr- + p- n + 1J ( 1J- 2y) reaction were investigated in 1.55-4.5 BeVIc region in a 17-liter propane-xenon bubble chamber. The total cross sections of both reactions were measured in this region. The angular distributions of the rr0 mesons in the charge-exchange reaction were obtained. The backward exchange-scattering cross sections du( rr- + p- n + rr 0 )ldQ were estimated.

The analysis of the eight-prong interactions of 8 GeV/ c π + with protons indicates the existence of the new heavy nucleon isobar with the mass M = 3.69 GeV and the isospin T = 1 2 .

The mass spectrum of 3γ states produced in π−p collisions has been studied. A peak corresponding to ωo→πoγ decay in the π−p→ωon reaction was selected. The measurements were performed at the IHEP accelerator at momenta 21, 25, 32.5, 40 and 48 GeV/c. The reaction cross section decreases with the momentum in a power form (∼P−2.4) The differential cross section follows exponential t-dependence, exp (bt). The scattering cone shrinks slowly with the energy increase.
