This Letter reports the observation of single top quarks produced together with a photon, which directly probes the electroweak coupling of the top quark. The analysis uses 139 fb$^{-1}$ of 13 TeV proton-proton collision data collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Requiring a photon with transverse momentum larger than 20 GeV and within the detector acceptance, the fiducial cross section is measured to be 688 $\pm$ 23 (stat.) $^{+75}_{-71}$ (syst.) fb, to be compared with the standard model prediction of 515 $^{+36}_{-42}$ fb at next-to-leading order in QCD.
This table shows the values for $\sigma_{tq\gamma}\times\mathcal{B}(t\rightarrow l\nu b)$ and $\sigma_{tq\gamma}\times\mathcal{B}(t\rightarrow l\nu b)+\sigma_{t(\rightarrow l\nu b\gamma)q}$ obtained by a profile-likelihood fit in the fiducial parton-level phase space (defined in Table 1) and particle-level phase space (defined in Table 2), respectively.
Distribution of the reconstructed top-quark mass in the $W\gamma\,$CR before the profile-likelihood fit. The "Total" column corresponds to the sum of the expected contributions from the signal and background processes. The uncertainty represents the sum of statistical and systematic uncertainties in the signal and background predictions. The first and last bins include the underflow and overflow, respectively.
Distribution of the NN output in the 0fj$\,$SR in data and the expected contribution of the signal and background processes after the profile-likelihood fit. The "Total" column corresponds to the sum of the expected contributions from the signal and background processes. The uncertainty represents the sum of statistical and systematic uncertainties in the signal and background predictions considering the correlations of the uncertainties as obtained by the fit.

The observation of an anomalous J/ ψ suppression in Pb–Pb collisions by the NA50 Collaboration can be considered as the most striking indication for the deconfinement of quarks and gluons at SPS energies. In this Letter, we determine the J/ ψ suppression pattern as a function of the forward hadronic energy E ZDC measured in a Zero Degree Calorimeter (ZDC). The direct connection between E ZDC and the geometry of the collision allows us to calculate, within a Glauber approach, the precise relation between the number of participant nucleons N part and E ZDC . Then, we check if the experimental data can be better explained by a sudden or a smooth onset of the anomalous J/ ψ suppression as a function of the number of participants.

Photoproduction at HERA is studied in $ep$ collisions, with the ZEUS detector, for $\gamma p$ centre-of-mass energies ranging from 130-270 GeV. A sample of events with two high-$p_T$ jets ($p_T > 6$ GeV, $\eta <1.6$) and a third cluster in the approximate direction of the electron beam is isolated using a clustering algorithm. These events are mostly due to resolved photoproduction. The third cluster is identified as the photon remnant. Its properties, such as the transverse and longitudinal energy flows around the axis of the cluster, are consistent with those commonly attributed to jets, and in particular with those found for the two jets in these events. The mean value of the photon remnant $p_T$ with respect to the beam axis is measured to be $2.1 \pm 0.2$ GeV, which demonstrates substantial mean transverse momenta for the photon remnant.

Results of the first experiments with the Neutral Detector at the electron-positron storage ring VEPP-2M are presented. Branching ratios of the ø-meson radiative decays have been measured: B ( ø → ηγ )=(1.30±0.06)%, B ( ø → π 0 γ )=(0.130±0.013)%, their accuracy being several times higher than the world average. The width ratio is Γ(ø→ηγ) Γ(ø→π 0 γ)=(10±1) . Using the abovementioned quantities, the ω − ø mixing angle θ v =(38.3±0.2) ° , as well as the ratio between the effective magnetic moments of the s- and u-quarks, μ s μ u =(0.57±0.03) have been calculated.

SAME AS FIG 2A, BUT KINEMATICAL RECONSTRUCTION ARE APPLIED. I.E. THE ENERGY- MOMENTUM CONSERVATIONS ARE USED TO IMPROVE THE ACCURACY OF PARTICLE ENERGIES AND ANGLES MEASURED IN DETECTOR.
The reaction π−A→Aπ− γ at 40 GeV/c was studied on “Sigma” spectrometer on six different nuclear targets in the region of four-momentum transfer |t|<0.05 (GeV/c)2. A phenomenon of elastic scattering of pions on the nuclear Coulomb field photons was observed, its total and differential cross sections were measured. The cross section of Compton effect on π−-meson was measured.

We present results on the experimental study of inelastic charged-current antineutrino-nucleon scattering in the energy range of 10–200 GeV. The data sample, consisting of about 6500 antineutrino-induced events, was obtained in the Fermilab 15 ft bubble chamber filled with a heavy neon-hydrogen mixture. The differential cross sections for ν μ N interactions are presented in terms of scaling variables x and y . The structure functions F 2 ν and xF 3 ν have been evaluated as functions of x and E ν . A deviation from the scaling hypothesis, similar to those found in other experiments on inelastic lepton-nucleon scattering, has been observed. The data are interpreted in the framework of the quark-parton model. Quark and antiquark distributions and their energy dependences are presented.
