The results of a study of strange particle production in charged current $\bar{\nu}_{\mu} N$ interactions in the Fermilab 15 ft bubble chamber filled with a heavy $Ne-H_2$ mixture are presented. Production rates and average multiplicities of $K^0$'s and Λ's as functions of W 2 and Q 2 are given. The experimental data agree well with the quark-parton model predictions if a yield of 0.06 ± 0.02 of $K^0$'s and Λ's from charm production is included. Upper limits for D-meson production are given and the shape of the charmed quark fragmentation function is discussed. Inclusive production of the K ∗ (890) and Σ(1385) resonances is measured and it is shown that only about 5% of the K 0 mesons and Λ hyperons results from resonance decays. Relative production rates of neutral strange particles on proton and neutron targets are studied.

Observation of Semileptonic Decays of Charmed Baryons

Vella, E. ; Trilling, G. ; Abrams, G.S. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 48 (1982) 1515, 1982.
Inspire Record 176986 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.19674

Direct electrons are observed in baryon events produced in e+e− annihilation at center-of-mass energies above the ΛcΛ¯c threshold. These events are attributed to charmed-baryon pair production and subsequent Λc semileptonic decay. Various semileptonic branching ratios of the Λc are determined, including B(Λc→e+X)=(4.5±1.7)%.

A PARTIAL WAVE ANALYSIS OF THE (K pi pi) SYSTEM IN THE REACTION pi- p ---> (K+ pi- pi0) LAMBDA AT 3.95-GeV/c

Results from a partial wave analysis of theKππ system produced in the hypercharge exchange reaction π−p→(K+π−π0)Λ at 3.95 GeV/c are presented. SignificantQ1 production is observed but no evidence is found forQ2 production thus confirming the results obtained in a previous decay Dalitz plot analysis of the same reaction. The relative phase behaviour of the 1+(Kϱ) partial waves obtained with the present analysis provides additional confirmation of the resonance interpretation of theQ1 enhancement. Information is also obtained about its production properties and the role played by the Λ polarization in the hypercharge exchange reaction. This is compared with the results obtained in the reactionK−p→(π+π−π0)Λ at 4 GeV/c.

PARTIAL WAVE ANALYSIS OF THE K+ PI+ K- SYSTEM SEEN IN THE REACTION PI+ P ---> K+ PI+ K- P AT 11.46-GeV/c

We present results of a hybrid-bubble-chamber experiment examining the reaction π+p→π+pK+K− at an incident momentum of 11.46 GeV/c. The total cross section for this channel is determined to be 87.2±6.4 μb. A partial-wave analysis of the K+π+K− system reveals no unambiguous evidence of resonant activity, although mass enhancements are noted in the JP=0− κ¯K+ (S wave), JP=2− fπ (S wave), and JP=2−, K¯*0(892)K+ (P wave). This is the first published report of the relative phases of the waves seen in this reaction. We comment on the influence this channel may have on A1 and A3 production.

Hadron Production by $e^+ e^-$ Annihilation at Center-of-mass Energies Between 2.6-{GeV} and 7.8-{GeV}. Part 2. Jet Structure and Related Inclusive Distributions

We present results on the jet structure observed in multihadronic events produced by e+e− annihilation in the Mark I magnetic detector at SPEAR. The evidence for jet structure and the jet-axis angular distribution are reported. We give inclusive distributions of the hadrons in Feynman x, rapidity, and transverse momentum relative to the jet axis.
