Experimental measurements of differential cross-sections for neutron-proton scattering are reported for 12 incident neutron energies between 28 and 75 MeV. Data are compared with predictions of different theoretical models and with other experimental results.

Neutron-Proton Differential-Cross-Section Measurements at 50 MeV

Montgomery, T.C. ; Brady, F.P. ; Bonner, B.E. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 31 (1973) 640-643, 1973.
Inspire Record 945159 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21337

The neutron-proton differential cross section at 50.0 MeV has been measured to a precision of ≃ 2% for backward-hemisphere c.m. angles and ≃ 3% for forward angles, both relative. The present data are not in good agreement with the previous n−p measurements near this energy. A preliminary phase-shift analysis using the present data produces more satisfactory results, particularly for the P11 phase shift.

Differential Cross-sections and Analyzing Powers for Small Angles $N P$ Elastic Scattering Between 376-{MeV} and 1135-{MeV}

Silverman, B.H. ; Lugol, J.C. ; Saudinos, J. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.A 499 (1989) 763-788, 1989.
Inspire Record 264337 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.36902

We have measured absolute differential cross sections and analyzing powers for neutron-proton elastic scattering for momentum transfer 0.01 < | t |< 0.08 (GeV/ c ) 2 at several energies between 378 and 1135 MeV. The ionization chamber IKAR filled with methane was used as both a gas target and recoil detector. For the analyzing-power measurements the scattered neutron was detected in scintillation counters in coincidence with the recoil proton detected in IKAR. Special care was taken to ensure a precise absolute normalization of the cross sections, with overall systematic uncertainties of 4–7%.

Neutron-proton charge-exchange scattering, 3-12 gev/c

Miller, E.L. ; Elfield, M. ; Reay, N.W. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 26 (1971) 984-987, 1971.
Inspire Record 69018 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.37275

We report a high-statistics measurement of the neutron-proton charge-exchange differential cross section for incident momenta 3 to 12 GeVc, and four-momentum transfers 0.003 to 0.85 (GeVc)2. The data are normalized absolutely to ±20%. The differential cross section is characterized by a sharp peak at small momentum transfers, with a gentler exponential behavior at large momentum transfers. This shape is remarkably independent of the incident momentum.

Neutron-Proton Charge Exchange Scattering from 8-GeV/c to 29-GeV/c

Kreisler, Michael N. ; Davis, Michael B. ; Longo, Michael J. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 84 (1975) 3-54, 1975.
Inspire Record 90302 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.32178

The differential cross sections for neutron-proton charge-exchange scattering have been measured for incident neutron momenta between 8 and 29 GeV /c and for four-momentum transfers | t | between 0.002 and 1.0 (GeV/ c ) 2 . A neutron beam with a broad momentum spectrum was scattered from a liquid hydrogen target. The momenta and scattering angles of the forward-scattered protons were measured by a spark-chamber magnet spectrometer. The flight times and scattering angles of the recoil neutrons were measured by a bank of thick scintillation counters. The efficiencies of the neutron counters were determined in a separate measurement. Absolute normalization of the data was obtained from a measurement of the diffraction dissociation of neutrons from carbon nuclei. Differential cross sections, based on ∼ 23 000 events, are presented for 9 different momenta. The shape of the differential cross sections and the momentum dependence are examined in detail.

Neutron-Proton Charge-Exchange Scattering from 22-GeV/c to 65-GeV/c

Babaev, A. ; Brachman, E. ; Eliseev, G. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 110 (1976) 189-204, 1976.
Inspire Record 100178 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.35776

The differential cross sections for neutron-proton elastic charge-exchange scattering have been measured with a two-arm technique for incident neutron momenta between 22 and 65 GeV/ c and for values of the momentum transfer squared between 0.002 and 0.8 (GeV/ c ) 2 . The sharp forward peak observed previously at lower energies is also present at momenta up to 65 GeV/ c ; however the s dependence of the cross section is slowing down.

N p Charge Exchange Scattering at Fermilab

Barton, H.R., Jr. ; Reay, N.W. ; Reibel, K. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 37 (1976) 1656, 1976.
Inspire Record 112288 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21058

We have measured the neutron-proton charge-exchange differential cross section in the momentum interval 60 to 300 GeV/c, with squared four-momentum transfers 0.002 to 0.8 (GeV/c)2. Independent of incident momentum, the data are characterized by a sharp forward peak of width 0.02 (GeV/c)2, followed by a shoulder and gentler falloff at higher momentum transfers.
