Prompt dimuon production has been measured. Events with mass up to 25 GeV/c2 are observed, as well as the J and ϒ resonances. Cross sections are given for J and ϒ production. For the continuum, the scaling function F(τ) is measured at very small values of τ=ms covering the range 0.05<τ<0.20.

Evidence is presented for a narrow state, called ξ, in the decay modes J/ψ→γξ, ξ→K+K−, and ξ→KS0KS0. In the K+K− mode, the ξ has a mass of 2.230±0.006±0.014 GeV/c2, a width of Γ=0.026−0.016+0.020± 0.017 GeV/c2, a product branching ratio of (4.2−1.4+1.7±0.8)×10 −5, and a statistical significance of ∼4.5 standard deviations. In the KS0KS0 mode, it has a mass of 2.232±0.007±0.007 GeV/c2, a width of Γ=0.018−0.015+0.023± 0.010 GeV/c2, a product branching ratio of (3.1−1.3+1.6±0.7)×10 −5, and a statistical significance of ∼3.6 standard deviations. Limits on ξ decay to other final states are presented.

Inclusive distributions are presented for final-state π0 and η0 mesons produced in γp interactions. For photon energies from 50 to 130 GeV, both cross sections scale for fractional momenta xF>~0.30. The average transverse momentum for both mesons is approximately constant with energy and equal to 0.51±0.05 GeV/c at large xF. The η0π0 ratio similarly rises from 0.07±0.03 at xF=0.38 to 0.30±0.09 at xF=0.90. The π0 distributions are in good agreement with those seen in the scattering of highly virtual incident photons.

The ρ0-meson spin alignment is studied in p¯p interactions at 22.4 and 12 GeV/c and in the reaction p¯p→2π++2π−+neutrals at 5.7 GeV/c. An essential ρ0-meson spin alignment is observed. The values of the ρ00T element of the ρ0-meson spin-density matrix in the transversity frame are 0.56 ± 0.07, 0.53 ± 0.05, and 0.54 ± 0.04 for the above-mentioned interactions, respectively. An increase of ρ00T with ρ0 transverse momentum is obtained.

In a sample of B mesons from the decay of the ϒ(4S) produced in e+e− collisions at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, inclusive protons, antiprotons, lambdas, and antilambdas have been observed. Lower limits to the B-to-baryon branching ratios are derived.

The π0 inclusive cross section for c.m. production angles θ=90° and 22°>~θ>~5° at c.m. energies of s=23 and 53 GeV has been measured. This cross section is strongly dependent on both θ and s at small angles. The hypothesis of radial scaling is shown to be incapable of incorporating both θ and s dependence of the cross section. A recent quantum-chromodynamics calculation is in qualitative agreement with our results.

The pseudorapidity density and multiplicity distribution of charged particles produced in proton-proton collisions at the LHC, at a centre-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s} = 7$ TeV, were measured in the central pseudorapidity region |$\eta$| < 1. Comparisons are made with previous measurements at $\sqrt{s}$ = 0.9 TeV and 2.36 TeV. At $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV, for events with at least one charged particle in |$\eta$| < 1, we obtain dNch/deta = 6.01 $\pm$ 0.01 (stat.) $^{+0.20}_{-0.12}$ (syst.). This corresponds to an increase of 57.6% $\pm$ 0.4% (stat.) $^{+3.6}_{-1.8}$% (syst.) relative to collisions at 0.9 TeV, significantly higher than calculations from commonly used models. The multiplicity distribution at 7 TeV is described fairly well by the negative binomial distribution.
Charged-particle pseudorapidity densities at central pseudorapidity (ETRAP from -1.0 to 1.0) for the INEL>0 class of events. Data are also given for the lower energy ALICE data.
Relative increase in pseudorapidity density between the different energies.
Multiplicity distribution normalized to the bin width in the pseudorapidity region -1.0 to 1.0 for INEL>0 collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7000 GeV. See the paper arXiv:1004.3034 for the lower energy data. Note that the statistical as well as the systematic uncertainties are strongly correlated between neighbouring points. We report on double-differential inclusive cross-sections of the production of secondary protons, charged pions, and deuterons, in the interactions with a 5% nuclear interaction length thick stationary carbon target, of proton and pion beams with momentum from \pm 3 GeV/c to \pm 15 GeV/c. Results are given for secondary particles with production angles between 20 and 125 degrees. Cross-sections on carbon nuclei are compared with cross-sections on beryllium, copper, tantalum and lead nuclei.

We report on a measurement of the inclusive jet cross section in $p \bar{p}$ collisions at a center-of-mass energy $\sqrt s=$1.96 TeV using data collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 0.70 fb$^{-1}$. The data cover jet transverse momenta from 50 GeV to 600 GeV and jet rapidities in the range -2.4 to 2.4. Detailed studies of correlations between systematic uncertainties in transverse momentum and rapidity are presented, and the cross section measurements are found to be in good agreement with next-to-leading order QCD calculations.
