The inclusive production of the omega(782) vector meson in hadronic Z decays is measured and compared to model predictions. The analysis is based on 4 million hadronic Z decays recorded by the ALEPH detector between 1991 and 1995. The production rate for x_p = p_meson/p_beam > 0.05 is measured in the omega -> pi^+ pi^- pi^0 decay mode and found to be 0.585 +- 0.019_stat +- 0.033_sys per event. Inclusive eta meson production is also measured in the same decay channel for x_p > 0.10, obtaining 0.355 +- 0.011_stat +- 0.024_sys per event. The branching ratio for omega -> mu^+ mu^- is investigated. A total of 18.1 +- 5.9 events are observed, from which the muonic branching ratio is measured for the first time to be BR(omega -> mu^+ mu^-) = (9.0 +- 2.9_stat +- 1.1_sys)*10^-5.
Extrapolation using JETSET 7.4 is used to correct down to X = 0.0. The second DSYS error, where relevant, shows the estimated uncertainty on the extrapolation.

We report on a study of ρ0, ρ+, ω,\(\bar K^{*0} (892)\) andK*0 (892) inclusive production in π+p interactions at 250 GeV/c, for ρ+,\(\bar K^{*0} (892)\) for the first time in a π+p experiment. The data are compared withK+p data in the same experiment, with results of other experiments and with quark-parton models. Interesting differences are found between ρ+,0 and ω production.

Energy spectra and angular distributions of protons emitted from the inclusive (d,xp) reaction on 9Be, 12C, 27Al, 58Ni, 93Nb, 181Ta, 208Pb, and 238U were measured at an incident deuteron energy of 100 MeV. The protons were detected at laboratory scattering angles of 6° to 120° and 8° to 120° for the targets with 9<~A<~27 and A>~58, respectively. Two triple-element and three double-element detector telescopes allowed for a low energy detection threshold of 4 to 8 MeV. The experimental results are presented in double-differential as well as angle- and energy-integrated cross sections. For all the nuclei studied, the energy spectra at forward angles show pronounced deuteron breakup peaks centered around approximately half of the incident deuteron energy. Qualitatively the energy spectra are similar for all nuclei at a given angle except in the region of the low-energy evaporation peak. As a function of target mass the evaporation cross sections are found to increase up to A=58 after which they decrease again. The total preequilibrium proton cross section is roughly (280±60)A1/3 mb. The angular distributions at the high emission energies are strongly forward peaked while the distributions of the low-energy protons are almost isotropic. The LAHET code system (LCS) was applied to calculate the proton production cross sections. Standard LCS calculations are found to underpredict the experimental cross sections at the very forward angles on the heavy target nuclei (A≳58). By adding incoherently the Coulomb breakup cross section of the deuteron to the LCS calculations the experimental cross sections are reproduced to within 10%. Although preequilibrium processes are a necessary ingredient in the LCS calculations of the large-angle cross sections, this code still fails to predict the experimental evaporation distributions.
All Cross Sections has errors 10 pct (for PB208 and U238 errors >10 pct) including systematic uncertainties. Tabulated proton multiplicities extracted from the experimental data by dividing proton cross section by reaction cross section using the empirical expression pi*(1.58A**(1/3)+.671*Ad**(1/3))**2 (taken from PR B348, 697).
We report on the inclusive production cross sections of J/$\psi$, $\psi$(2S), $\Upsilon$(1S), $\Upsilon$(2S) and $\Upsilon$(3S), measured at forward rapidity with the ALICE detector in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s}=8$ TeV. The analysis is based on data collected at the LHC and corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 1.28 pb$^{-1}$. Quarkonia are reconstructed in the dimuon-decay channel. The differential production cross sections are measured as a function of the transverse momentum $p_{\rm T}$ and rapidity $y$, over the $p_{\rm T}$ ranges $0<p_{\rm T}<20$ GeV/$c$ for J/$\psi$, $0<p_{\rm T}<12$ GeV/$c$ for all other resonances, and for $2.5<y<4$. The cross sections, integrated over $p_{\rm T}$ and $y$, and assuming unpolarized quarkonia, are $\sigma_{{\rm J}/\psi} = 8.98\pm0.04\pm0.82$ $\mu$b, $\sigma_{\psi{\rm (2S)}} = 1.23\pm0.08\pm0.22$ $\mu$b, $\sigma_{\Upsilon{\rm(1S)}} = 71\pm6\pm7$ nb, $\sigma_{\Upsilon{\rm(2S)}} = 26\pm5\pm4$ nb and $\sigma_{\Upsilon{\rm(3S)}} = 9\pm4\pm1$ nb, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second one is systematic. These values agree, within at most $1.4\sigma$, with measurements performed by the LHCb collaboration in the same rapidity range.

Analyzing powers ( A y ) and spin-rotation-depolarization parameters ( D SS , D SL , D LS , D LL , D NN ) were determined for 500 MeV p + 2 H and p + 12 C inclusive quasielastic scattering at 10°, 15°, and 20° laboratory scattering angles. The p + 2 H data are consistent with the isospin-average of the proton-proton and proton-neutron scattering observables; the p + 12 C data are not. A relativistic plane wave impulse approximation calculation leads to better agreement with the p + 12 C spin-observables.

Inclusive ϱ 0 production has been investigated in p p reactions at 22.4 GeV/ c . The total cross section for ϱ 0 production is 8.1 ± 2.0 mb. The average ϱ 0 's per event is 0.17 ± 0.03. The average transverse momentum, as obtained by extrapolation of a fitted simple exponential to the p T 2 distribution, is 0.52 ± 0.12 GeV/ c . The Feynman x and c.m. rapidity distributions show ϱ 0 to be “centrally” produced.

Inclusive ϱ 0 production in γ p → ϱ 0 + anything is studied at 2.8, 4.7, and 9.3 GeV, using the SLAC linearly polarized backscattered laser photon beam and the 82 inch hydrogen bubble chamber. Over this energy range the inclusive inelastic ϱ 0 cross section rises from 6.0 μb to 20.5 μb. The multiplicity, i.e. the average number of μ 0 mesons per inelastic hadronic event, has an energy dependence consistent with 1n s .

The inclusive ϱ ° production cross section has been measured in the reaction π − p → π + π − X at 205 GeV/ c . We find σ ( ϱ ° ) = 13.5 ± 3.4 mb, with most of the production occuring in the central region. Assuming σ ( ϱ + ) ≈ σ ( ϱ − ) ≈ σ ( ϱ ° ), it is concluded that approximately one-third of the pions at this energy come from ϱ -decay.

Average numbers of ϱ 0 , K ∗0 (890) and K ∗0 (890) produced in peripheral collisions (with the number of “grey” protons n g ⩽2) of K + with Al and of π + with Al and Au nuclei at 250 GeV/ c are measured in the EHS(NA22) experiment at the CERN SPS. No evidence is found for suppression of vector meson production relative to K + p and π + collisions at the same energy.
