We have investigated the pp elastic scattering at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings (ISR). We report results for centre-of-mass scattering angles between 30 and 100 mrad and for centre-of-mass energies of 23.5,30.7, 44.9 and 53 GeV. The elastic differential cross-section shows a diffraction-like shape with a sharp minimum at about t = −1.4 GeV 2 .

Measurement of the Proton Proton Total Cross-Section and Small Angle Elastic Scattering at ISR Energies

Nucl.Phys.B 141 (1978) 1-28, 1978.
Inspire Record 136189 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.34829

Measurements of the total cross section have been performed at the ISR with c.m. energies between 23.5 GeV and 62.5 GeV. Two independent experimental methods have been applied, a measurement of total interaction rate and of small angle elastic scattering. Both experiments give consistent results showing that the total cross section increases by (11.8±1.5) % over the ISR energy range. This experiment has also measured the slope of the forward diffraction peak in elastic scattering at small momentum transfer. The elastic cross section shows the same relative rise as the total cross section, and the ratio λ of elastic to total cross section approaches a constant value of λ =0.178±0.003.

Systematic study of pi+- p, k+- p, p p, and anti-p p forward elastic scattering from 3 to 6 gev/c

Phys.Rev.D 9 (1974) 1179-1209, 1974.
Inspire Record 92992 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.3409

Measurements of π±p, K±p, pp, and p¯p elastic scattering are presented for incident momenta of 3, 3.65, 5, and 6 GeVc and momentum transfers typically 0.03 to 1.8 GeV2. The angle and momentum of the scattered particle were measured with the Argonne Effective Mass Spectrometer for 300 000 events, yielding 930 cross-section values with an uncertainty in absolute normalization of ±4%. Only the K+ and proton data show any significant change in slope of the forward diffraction peak with incident momentum. The particle-antiparticle crossover positions are consistent with no energy dependence, average values being 0.14 ± 0.03, 0.190 ± 0.006, and 0.162 ± 0.004 GeV2 for π' s, K' s, and protons, respectively; these errors reflect both statistics and the ±1.5% uncertainty in particle-antiparticle relative normalization. Differences between particle and antiparticle cross sections isolate interference terms between amplitudes of opposite C parity in the t channel; these differences indicate that the imaginary part of the odd-C nonflip-helicity amplitude has a J0(r(−t)12) structure for −t<0.8 GeV2, as predicted by strong absorption models. The cross-section differences for K± and proton-antiproton are in qualitative agreement with the predictions of ω universality, the agreement improving with increasing energy. The corresponding quark-model predictions relating the π± and K± differences failed by more than a factor of 2. We have combined our π± cross sections with other data to better determine the πN amplitudes in a model-independent way; results of this analysis are presented.

Topological, Total and Elastic Cross-sections for $K^+ p$, $\pi^+ p$ and $p p$ Interactions at 147-{GeV}/$c$

Brick, D. ; Rudnicka, H. ; Shapiro, A.M. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 25 (1982) 2794, 1982.
Inspire Record 11840 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.4111

The Fermilab hybrid 30-in. bubble-chamber spectrometer was exposed to a tagged 147-GeV/c positive beam containing π+, K+, and p. A sample of 3003 K+p, 19410 pp, and 20745 π+p interactions is used to derive σn, 〈n〉, f2cc, and 〈nc〉D for each beam particle. These values are compared to values obtained at other, mostly lower, beam momenta. The overall dependence of 〈n〉 on Ea, the available center-of-mass energy, for these three reactions as well as π−p and pp interactions has been determined.

Passive scalar fluctuations in intermittent turbulence

Crisanti, A. ; Falcioni, M. ; Paladin, G. ; et al.
EPL 14 (1991) 541-546, 1991.
Inspire Record 314520 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.857

We discuss how the spatial intermittency of energy dissipation in 3D fully developed turbulence affects the small-scale statistics of passive scalars. We relate the passive-scalar behaviour to the diffusion properties of particle pairs in turbulent fluids. We thus find the intermittency correction to the -5/3 Obukhov-Corrsin law for the power spectrum of a passive scalar at wavenumber k where molecular diffusion and viscosity play a negligible role (inertial convective subrange). This correction is positive at difference with the negative correction to the -5/3 Kolmogorov law for the energy spectrum. We finally show that the structure functions of passive scalars have scaling exponents linear in the moment order, even in the framework of multifractal models.

In this paper we present tables of absolute differential cross sections of elastic pp scattering together with the values of the slope parameter B and the real-part parameter α, where B= d d t In dσ d t α= Re A(0) Im A(0) and A (0) is the amplitude of elastic pp scattering at t = 0. The cross-section data have been obtained at the Serpukhov accelerator from 8 to 70 GeV in the | t |-range 0.0007 − 0.12 (GeV/ c ) 2 .

Observation of small angle proton proton elastic scattering at 30 gev and 45 gev center-of-mass energies

Phys.Lett.B 35 (1971) 355-360, 1971.
Inspire Record 69228 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.5781

Small angle elastic scattering events have been observed at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings. Directions of both particles as well as the collision vertex are reconstructed with the help of four sets of spark chambers, two for each of the two arms. The elastic nature of the events is demonstrated by a collinearity requirement. We find values for the (diffraction) slope parameter in disagreement with the simple linear extrapolation of lower energy (Surpukov) data.

Multiplicity of Charged Particles in 800-{GeV} $p p$ Interactions

Phys.Lett.B 178 (1986) 124-128, 1986.
Inspire Record 231133 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.6558

Results are reported concerning the charged-particle multiplicity distribution obtained in an exposure of the high-resolution hydrogen bubble chamber LEBC to a beam of 800 GeV protons at the Fermilab MPS. This is the first time that such data have been available at this energy. The distribution of the number n ch of charged particles produced in inelastic interactions obeys KNO-scaling. The average multiplicity is 〈 n ch 〉 = 10.26±0.15. For n ch ⩾8 the data can be well fitted to a negative binomial. The difference between the overall experimental multiplicity distribution and that resulting from the latter fit is in agreement with the contribution expected from diffractive processes.
